In 2018, Marko Popovic took the helm of Marco doo, bringing new energy and a strategic vision that bridges family tradition with modern market trends. His arrival in the leadership position marked the beginning of a new chapter in the company's development, focused on innovation and business diversification into new sectors.

From elite sports to the world of business

Before taking on the management role in the family business, Marko built a successful professional basketball career. Years spent in elite sports shaped him as a leader who brings key sporting values into business: discipline, perseverance and a winning mentality focused on the continuous advancement of the team.

Stepping into new industries: Skaska Distillery

Under Marko's leadership, Marco doo successfully stepped beyond the boundaries of traditional sectors. On his initiative, Skaska Distillery doo was established, operating under the ownership of Marco doo. With a vision of producing premium beverages of the highest quality, the distillery was launched with a clear goal — conquering the global market and setting new standards in the production of premium spirits.

The strength of partnership and shared vision

In daily operations and strategic leadership of both companies, an important role is played by Marko's wife, Iva Popovic. Her engagement and support in managing key processes bring additional stability and a fresh perspective to brand development. Together, Marko and Iva work on modernizing the gas sector within Marco doo and on the global positioning of Skaska, nurturing the family character of the company while applying the most advanced global business practices.

Branka Popovic is the pillar of stability and organization of the company since its founding. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, she gained professional experience at Ljubljanska banka and UNIS Sarajevo, where she mastered the management of complex financial processes.

As co-founder of Marco doo, Branka is a key figure in all stages of development — from Kragujevac to the strategic relocation to Novi Sad in 2004. She brings an exceptional calmness, patience and kindness to the business world, qualities that have enabled the building of long-term trust with clients and partners.

Behind Marco doo stands the decades-long experience of its founder, Sekul Popovic, whose professional path has been marked by work in top industrial systems and strategic visions that have shaped the company's modern operations.

Sekul began his journey in Sarajevo right after secondary school. While working and demonstrating exceptional discipline, he completed the Faculty of Economics in a record time of just 20 months, laying the foundation for a career defined by efficiency and economic precision.

Expertise in industrial giants

• PRETIS Vogosca: The place where he gained his first experience in the most technologically advanced processes of this renowned industrial giant.
• UNIS Sarajevo: As a specialist whose results were quickly recognized, he advanced to the position of Board of Directors member of the entire corporation.
• UNIS Bicycle Factory: Managing complex production systems gave him invaluable managerial experience that later became the foundation of his own business.

Founding of Marco doo and technology transfer

With a vision of creating his own enterprise, Sekul Popovic together with his wife Branka founded the company Marco doo in Kragujevac in 1993. During the first decade, the company positioned itself as a leader in international bicycle trade, but also as a driver of technological progress, introducing new technologies to companies such as Orion from Kragujevac and Planet Bike from Krusevac.

Strategic transformation and the gas sector

A turning point in operations came in 2004, when Marco doo relocated its headquarters to Novi Sad and made a strategic shift toward the gas sector of the economy. This new direction was a natural continuation of relying on proven values and long-standing partnerships.

In collaboration with his long-time business friend from the UNIS era, Mr. Sejo Gradascevic and his company Fagas doo, Sekul Popovic launched a powerful cycle of conquering new markets. The combination of decades-long trust, industrial knowledge and new energy in the gas sector enabled Marco doo to become a recognized and reliable partner in this vital economic sector.
